VOLUNTEER TO SERVE

We are called to share God's love by participating in the ministry of Jesus in the world and in His Church. Review the ministry opportunities listed below and get plugged in!

GO KIDS MINISTRY

Lead or assist Sunday School during the morning worship service. Lessons are provided. Serve in the nursery taking care of babies while parents worship without distraction.

You can also volunteer for events designed to invite families into community at Great Oak and introduce them to Jesus.

Eligible candidates must be regular church attenders for six months, attend a screening class, and have an acceptable background check.

STUDENT MINISTRY

There are plenty of ways to get involved with and get to know the future leaders of our church and community. Participate in weekly youth group meetings, host a fun get-together for the teens, attend summer camp as a chaperone, etc.

Eligible candidates must be regular church attenders for six months, attend a screening class, and have an acceptable background check.

FOOD + CLOTHING

Great Oak has a clothing bank and operates two food pantries.

Great Oak Clothing Bank and Food Pantry located at 6341 Mann Road is open the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 11:00-12:30.

Our Mobile Food Pantry located at Mars Hill Arts Center is open the 1st Monday of every month from 4:30-5:30.

Volunteers are needed to help during distribution times, sort & hang donated clothing, bag groceries, transport groceries to Mars Hill, pick up from Midwest Food Bank, and more!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Greeter - Welcome members & guests, direct parents to the GO Kids check-in table, and be familiar with current events to answer questions.

Usher - Welcome members & guests, collect the offering, get an accurate attendance count, open doors and serve congregation as needed during Worship service.

Security - Patrol parking lot, report any strange occurrences, and aid the elderly, disabled, and guests.

WORSHIP TEAM

The worship team is made up of musicians, vocalists, audio/visual techs, and livestream operators.

The Great Oak Worship Ministry exists to create an open, safe, and loving environment for all people to worship freely. We are on mission to worship God and shine Jesus' light through inclusion, unity, service, submission, accessibility, and representation.

Onboarding process: attend three rehearsals and meet with the Worship Director & Pastor.

BUILDING + GROUNDS

Outside maintenance - Help keep the grounds of our church and cemetery clean and beautiful through weeding, trimming bushes, and general pick up.

Construction/repair - Various construction and repair projects will arise from time to time. Skills required could include, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, drywalling, painting, cleaning, etc.

HOSPITALITY

Do you like to make people feel at home, welcomed, cared for, and part of the group? The Hospitality team operates the Oak Tree Cafe and hosts events for special occasions in the life of our church.
